Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds performed an unannounced, stripped-back four-song rooftop set at Brighton’s Resident Records before their Preston Park homecoming concert. The pop-up, which drew a large crowd to North Laine, added to celebrations around Cave’s return to a city he has often called home and preceded the band’s UK-exclusive headline show.

The set began with ‘Train Long-Suffering’ and included T. Rex cover ‘Cosmic Dancer’, ‘Henry Lee’—with backing singer Janet Ramus taking PJ Harvey’s part—and ‘Papa Won’t Leave You, Henry’. Cave praised the band, paid tribute to his wife Suzie in the crowd, and invited fans to the evening concert, which supported 2024’s ‘Wild God’ and featured The Flaming Lips, English Teacher, Cate Le Bon and Warmduscher.
