Nicki Minaj joined Donald Trump and members of his administration on Air Force One en route to a Republican rally in Port Huron, Michigan, where she endorsed Trump and Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers. Her appearance drew attention to her increasingly public political support and prompted White House communications director Steven Cheung to joke that she could become the next press secretary.

At the rally, Minaj praised Trump, urged voters to elect Republican candidates and spoke about transgender issues involving children. Cheung’s post followed the firing of Katie Zacharia on 16 October, five days after she took the press secretary job; there was no announcement that Minaj would take the role. The 43-year-old rapper, whose latest album, *Pink Friday 2*, topped the Billboard 200 in 2023, has appeared with Trump several times in 2026.
