Nicolas Altmayer, a distinguished French film producer credited with bringing numerous critical and commercial successes to the screen, perished in a Monday afternoon collision on a rural road in western France. The 61-year-old had established himself as a key figure in French cinema through his production company Mandarin & Compagnie, co-run with his brother, and his portfolio encompassed both popular comedies and challenging auteur-driven projects from celebrated directors.

Altmayer's companion, Mathilde Favier, a 57-year-old public relations director at the luxury fashion house Dior, was also killed in the incident. The accident occurred when their vehicle attempted to pass another car on a departmental road in Airvault and struck an oncoming truck. Favier had previously built a significant reputation in the fashion industry whilst working at Prada before joining Dior in 2011, where she cultivated relationships with prominent celebrities and cultural ambassadors.
