Nier account says sorry for making Nier Automata 600% bigger on Steam, try not installing the DLC

A small Steam update for Nier: Automata caused the game’s listed installation size to jump from about 50GB to 366GB. The official series account apologised and said it was investigating the fault, which matters because players may need hundreds of gigabytes of extra storage to install the game.

The account said the issue followed an update released on 6 November 2026 in Japan time. As a temporary workaround, it advised players to open Steam’s Properties, select DLC and uncheck each item; a suspected bug may be duplicating the base game across DLC files. Steam still listed the game at 366.56GB when the article was written, though it remained playable for those able to install it.
