British producer Nigel Godrich, known for his work with Radiohead and Thom Yorke, and musician Dhani Harrison, son of the late George Harrison, have announced a new joint project called Dragonflies and will release their self-titled debut album on 18 September via Dark Horse Records/BMG. The pairing is unexpected given their differing musical backgrounds, and the announcement comes with the release of the lead single "Slower," accompanied by a Ruffmercy-directed video.

According to a press release, the pair grew close during the pandemic when Harrison sought Godrich's advice while making his 2023 album Innerstanding, and their studio sessions together eventually developed into the Dragonflies project. Harrison said the band's name, suggested by Godrich, reflects the dragonfly's symbolism of spiritual enlightenment. The album, which features string arrangements from David Campbell (Beck's father and a previous Godrich collaborator), opens with "Slower," described as psychedelic trip-hop with late-1990s influences, and includes tracks such as "Setting Sun," "Ophelia" and "The Weight."
