A Nigerian dancer named Benjamin Daniel, professionally known as "Ben Dancer", completed a 168-hour dance marathon in Lagos to attempt breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest individual dance marathon. The 33-year-old reached his target early on Tuesday morning but continued dancing for a further nine hours, demonstrating remarkable endurance whilst drawing on Nigeria's diverse dance traditions and contemporary culture.

The previous record of 127 hours was set by Indian dancer Srushti Sudhir Jagtap in 2023. Daniel, who has been dancing professionally for 18 years, performed a variety of styles including Afrobeats, fuji, jazz and zouk, interspersed with traditional Nigerian clothing such as agbada and dashiki. He was permitted five minutes of rest per hour and underwent intensive fitness training beforehand. The event drew large crowds to Lagos's Freedom Park and was livestreamed on social media, becoming a viral cultural moment. Guinness World Records has confirmed receipt of his application and is awaiting submission of evidence for official verification before confirming the record.
