Hackers claiming to be ShinyHunters allege they breached the FBI’s recruitment website and stole personal information belonging to employees, former staff and job applicants. The FBI said it was aware of claims about unauthorised activity and was investigating, while the hackers defaced the site and issued a threatening message aimed at the Trump administration.

The group reportedly shared a sample of 5,000 records containing purported names, addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth, with some including spouses’ details; the authenticity and full scope of the data remain unconfirmed. The hackers claimed to have exploited a previously unknown Oracle PeopleSoft flaw and accessed two to three terabytes of files through Amazon’s government cloud, while the incident adds to scrutiny of FBI Director Kash Patel’s management and recent controversies.
