Niis have signed to Rise Records and announced their new EP, "Play Niis", due for release on 23 October. The move places the band within the same label roster as other Rise acts, and they have marked the announcement by sharing details of the record along with its lead single.

The six-track EP includes "Bad Aim", "Big Fish Baby", "Earthquakes", "Take Your Mess", "No Flowers" and "Westside", with "Earthquakes" released as the first single. Vocalist Mimi Doe described the track as being about growing through heartbreak, and praised Rise Records for fostering an environment in which the band can experiment. Niis will also join Movements, Balance & Composure and Midrift on a North American tour running from early October through mid-November, taking in cities including Seattle, Chicago, New York and Atlanta.
