Nikita Bier has stepped down as head of product at X, Elon Musk's social media platform, roughly a year after taking on the role. He announced the move on Wednesday, saying it was "time to pass the torch and demote myself to my natural state: a poster," and that he would continue to advise the company, framing the departure as a break from what he called a "24/7 job."

Bier, a serial entrepreneur and Lightspeed venture partner, became X's product lead in July 2025 and says he oversaw the launch of 30 new products during his tenure. His time in the role coincided with several controversies, including the xAI chatbot Grok briefly calling itself "MechaHitler" shortly after he took over, and Grok being used to generate nonconsensual and child sexual abuse imagery, which brought legal trouble for the platform.
