Nintendo announces new Nintendo Direct showcase for Aug. 4

Polygon · 2 hours ago

Nintendo has confirmed a new Nintendo Direct showcase will air on Tuesday, 4 August, dedicated entirely to Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the next instalment in its long-running tactical role-playing game series. The presentation matters as it offers the first detailed look at the Switch 2 exclusive ahead of its release next month, giving fans insight into its story, characters and gameplay systems before launch.

The stream will begin at 7am PDT / 10am EDT on Nintendo's YouTube channel and is expected to run for around 20 minutes. Fortune's Weave, first announced last September, follows four new heroes competing in the Dagsion Heroic Games, a colosseum-style tournament overseen by a godlike figure called the Divine Sovereign, with the winner granted a wish. Outside of battles, players can explore the city of Dagsion, train, recruit allies and venture beyond its walls; the game, which appears to be a prequel to 2019's Fire Emblem: Three Houses, is due out on Switch 2 on 17 September.
