Nintendo Hints the Switch 2 Will Keep Getting Classic Remakes
Nintendo executive Nate Bihldorff says the company expects to keep releasing games across its many franchises, as the Switch 2’s 2026 line-up includes a major remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The project was seen as a likely hit, but also carried creative risks because of the original game’s reputation and devoted fans.
Bihldorff said the developers felt enthusiasm for bringing the game to a new generation, while Zelda producer Hidemaro Fujibayashi said the Switch 2’s hardware enabled ideas that were not possible with the technology of the mid-1990s. The remake follows Star Fox, another major remake released in June, prompting questions about whether Nintendo is making a broader push to revisit classic games.
In short
- Ocarina of Time is a major Switch 2 game for 2026.
- Nintendo says its developers were excited to remake the beloved classic.
