Nintendo is releasing a 40th anniversary Legend of Zelda Switch 2 on October 29

Engadget · 1 hour ago

Nintendo has unveiled a Legend of Zelda-themed Switch 2 console to mark the franchise's 40th anniversary, alongside a fuller look at its remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The special-edition console will launch on 29 October, a week ahead of the remake's 5 November release, giving fans a collectible tied to the milestone, though the console itself does not include a copy of the game.

The new colourway features gold and metallic green Joy-Con 2 controllers with a light-reflecting finish, departing from the all-gold design used for 2024's Echoes of Wisdom Switch Lite. Subtle details include a sprite of Link holding the Triforce on the left Joy-Con and one of Zelda on the right, while the dock is black and gold with a large Triforce design. Nintendo will also sell matching accessories, including a carrying case with screen protector, a Switch 2 Pro controller and a gamepad stand, all launching the same day while stocks last.

  • Zelda 40th-anniversary Switch 2 console launches 29 October.
  • Ocarina of Time remake follows on 5 November, sold separately.
  • Matching accessories include a case, Pro controller and stand.
