Nintendo Proved Crucial In Helping Players Understand The Duskbloods

Nintendo Life · 3 hours ago

FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki has credited Nintendo with helping the studio improve player onboarding for its upcoming game The Duskbloods, a departure from the studio's traditionally cryptic approach to explaining game mechanics. In an interview with IGN, Miyazaki admitted the developer had historically "just dropped players in and hoped they would figure it out," but said Nintendo's involvement was proving key to conveying the game's complex systems and rules more clearly.

Miyazaki explained that Nintendo's feedback, support and balancing input have been valuable given how unique and intricate The Duskbloods' systems are, adding that tutorial design "suits their strengths." He also said Nintendo was enthusiastic and "forward thinking" about the project from the outset, which reassured him before business considerations even came into play. Players accepted into the game's network test will be able to try it this weekend, with FromSoftware providing set access windows for the trial.
