Nintendo Shares 13-Step Procedure Detailing How To Replace Your Switch Joy-Con Battery
Nintendo has published a 13-step official guide for replacing the battery in certain Switch Joy-Con controllers, using its Battery Replacement Kit. The move matters because it prepares the company’s European hardware for forthcoming rules intended to make consumer-device batteries replaceable.
The kit includes a HAC-006(-01) replacement battery, a PH00 Phillips screwdriver, tweezers, a plastic spudger and double-sided tape. Nintendo provides photos and videos alongside instructions covering disassembly, battery and tape replacement, antenna positioning and reassembly; the EU regulation takes effect in 2027, when Nintendo also plans to stop selling the original Switch in Europe.
