Nintendo’s Talking Flower got a small price cut
Nintendo's Talking Flower, a novelty toy based on the chatty character from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, has received a modest price reduction at both Amazon and Walmart. The toy originally launched at $34.99 but is now available for $29.99, a saving of roughly 14 per cent. It is aimed primarily at fans of the game and those who enjoy quirky gadgets, offering little in the way of practical utility.
The Talking Flower announces each passing hour, makes remarks about the time of day and comments on the temperature via a built-in thermometer, though it cannot function as an alarm like Nintendo's pricier $110 Alarmo. It has no microphone and does not connect to the internet, but a button lets users prompt it to speak, and the spoken language can be selected. The Verge's Andrew Webster described it as a "drip feed of whimsy" that occasionally offers gentle reminders to relax or take a break, while Amazon reviewers appear split between finding it annoying and loving it regardless.
