South African police have discovered nine women's bodies over two months in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, sparking widespread alarm and fear in the community. The latest body, found Thursday in Dawn Park, was half-naked and wrapped in a sheet with apparent bruises and stab wounds. Whilst police have not confirmed whether all deaths are connected or whether a serial killer is responsible, the discoveries have prompted a major investigation and raised serious concerns about violence against women in South Africa.

The first body was discovered on 15 July, with a suspect arrested two days later but not linked to subsequent deaths. Further victims were identified, including 38-year-old Elizabeth Moselakgomo, who disappeared whilst jogging and was found behind a hotel, and Itumeleng Kekana. Police have assembled a multidisciplinary team of detectives, forensic experts and specialists to investigate potential connections between cases across Kempton Park, Olifantsfontein, Clayville and KwaThema. Authorities have offered a 400,000 rand (£18,000) reward for information.
