No shirt safe as Wales boss Lynn hints at changes

Wales head coach Sean Lynn says no player can take their place for granted as he considers changes for Saturday’s second WXV Test against Japan. The message follows a 17-0 win in Tokyo in which Wales lacked what Lynn called “ball toughness”, while experienced substitutes helped secure the result.

Lynn has capped 12 new players since taking charge before the 2025 Six Nations and says the 30-player squad is competing for places. Wales can finish their 2026 campaign with three wins from four in the WXV tournament; Lynn says victory would build confidence ahead of the 2027 Six Nations. Wales are ranked 11th and have not won a Six Nations match since beating Italy in 2024.
