New Zealand crime drama "Alibi" is heading to MIPCOM in Cannes, where distributor Yes Studios will represent the unusual short-form series to international buyers. The seven-part, 15-minutes-per-episode format retells the same story from multiple perspectives, and its flexible structure makes it attractive to both linear broadcasters and streaming platforms looking for bingeable or reorderable content, giving Yes Studios a distinctive title to sell at TV's leading international sales market.

Produced by Plus6Four Entertainment for pubcaster TVNZ, the series is set in the fictional town of Awatahi, where 17-year-old Jodie Hunter is found dead; six suspects each give their version of events across six episodes, with a seventh instalment revealing the truth. It was created by Hannah Marshall, David de Lautour and Gareth Williams, with de Lautour directing, and stars Madeleine Adams, Joel Tobeck, Xavier Horan and Melanie Vallejo. The deal marks a push by Yes Studios, the sales arm of Israeli broadcaster Yes TV, into representing third-party content beyond its usual in-house catalogue, with MIPCOM taking place on 12-15 October.
