A nor'easter is a severe Atlantic storm system that brings heavy rain, high winds and dangerous conditions as it moves up the East Coast. Three major music festivals have been cancelled ahead of the incoming nor'easter, with organisers citing safety concerns for the tens of thousands of attendees, performers, staff and suppliers involved.

East Coast music festivals are large cultural events that draw substantial crowds and feature major performers. The Global Citizen Festival, held annually in New York's Central Park, is one of the most established of these events and was scheduled to feature headliners including Lauryn Hill, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend and Alicia Keys.

This marks only the second cancellation in Global Citizen's 14-year history, demonstrating how rarely weather forces such established events to be shelved. The simultaneous cancellation of three major festivals reflects the severity of the approaching storm and the operational challenges of safely managing large outdoor gatherings during extreme weather conditions.
