Norwegian Football Federation president Lise Klaveness has said she will ask her board to pursue a formal ethics complaint over FIFA’s suspension of USMNT forward Folarin Balogun’s red-card ban. She argued that FIFA should acknowledge the decision as an error, amid criticism that Donald Trump’s involvement may have influenced the outcome.

The dispute followed controversy over Balogun’s dismissal and subsequent eligibility to return for the United States. Klaveness said the issue raised concerns about FIFA’s independence, fairness and adherence to its own disciplinary processes, even though the World Cup has now ended.
