A Delaware judge has ordered Faith Evans to immediately pay nearly $14 million to the trust of Voletta Wallace, settling the dispute over the trust’s share of profits from The Notorious B.I.G.’s estate. The money is to be passed by trustee Wayne Barrow to the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation, as Voletta’s will directs.

The order covers a 25 per cent share of profits accrued between Voletta’s death on 21 February 2025 and December 2025. That share totals $12.5 million, with interest bringing the payment to nearly $14 million. Barrow remains involved in a separate lawsuit in which Biggie’s son, CJ Wallace, challenges changes to his grandmother’s will that made Barrow sole trustee; Barrow denies allegations that he manipulated her.

How this story developed

  • 56 seconds ago The court set the payment at $12.5 million in estate profits accrued between Wallace’s death in February 2025 and December, plus interest, while trustee Wayne Barrow remains involved in a separate challenge by CJ Wallace to his grandmother’s will.
  • 7 minutes ago A Delaware judge ordered Faith Evans to pay nearly $14 million to a trust set up by Voletta Wallace, with the money destined for a memorial foundation under Wallace’s will.

Explained simply

The Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie, was a New York rapper whose music and name have continued to generate income since his death in 1997. His estate manages rights and other assets connected to his work, while Faith Evans, his widow and a singer, has been involved in its administration.

Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s mother, had a share in the estate’s profits. Her will set out that her share should go to a trust and then support a memorial foundation; Wayne Barrow is the trust’s trustee. The dispute concerns how profits were divided and paid under those arrangements.

The case is separate from a challenge by Biggie’s son, CJ Wallace, to the terms of his grandmother’s will. Its outcome matters to the people responsible for the estate and trust, and to how income from Biggie’s legacy is handled.
