Richard Allen, convicted of murdering Indiana teenagers Abigail Williams and Liberty German in 2017, is appealing his convictions and 130-year sentence. His lawyers argue that his numerous prison confessions were unreliable because he was experiencing a severe psychological crisis, and they allege that investigators framed him while overlooking a possible pagan cult theory.

The girls disappeared after walking near Delphi’s Monon High Bridge, and Libby’s phone recorded a man saying “Down the hill”. Their bodies were found the following day with their throats cut; prosecutors also presented an unspent cartridge allegedly linked to Allen’s handgun and testimony about more than 60 confessions. Allen was arrested in 2022 and convicted in 2024, but his appeal also cites a suspect sketch that was allegedly withheld from his original trial.
