Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks with Chelsea to sign striker Liam Delap, as head coach Oliver Glasner looks to add two more first-team players before the transfer window closes a week on Tuesday. Delap, who had been on Forest's radar before joining Chelsea from Ipswich, has fallen out of favour under Xabi Alonso and was omitted from Chelsea's squad for their game at Fulham, making him available for a move as Forest also seek reinforcements at wing-back to suit Glasner's three-man defence.

Delap is 23 and has been training away from Chelsea's first team. Forest have already brought in Ousmane Diomande for £34m from Sporting, plus free additions Xaver Schlager and Steven Benda, and face Leeds in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday without the injured Morgan Gibbs-White, who they hope will be fit for Saturday's trip to Liverpool. Elsewhere, Aston Villa are pursuing Club Brugge defender Joel Ordóñez to replace Ezri Konsa after a rejected bid for Southampton's Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Coventry City are closing in on Brentford's Ethan Pinnock as a ninth summer signing, and Sunderland have signed midfielder Jules Ahoka from Royal Antwerp for a reported £8m.
