Nvidia partners with data center developer Cloverleaf

TechCrunch · 3 hours ago

Nvidia has announced a partnership with Cloverleaf Infrastructure, a company that develops the groundwork for data centres, as it continues efforts to sustain the AI boom that has driven its own growth. The deal sees Nvidia take a minority stake in Cloverleaf, which acts as an intermediary between utility companies and data centre operators, securing power sources and other essential infrastructure for site development. It underscores Nvidia's growing role in directly financing and building the very data centres that ultimately purchase its AI chips.

Cloverleaf Infrastructure was founded in 2024 and had previously raised $300 million. While neither company disclosed the financial terms of the partnership, the Wall Street Journal reported that Nvidia's investment is likely to total several hundred million dollars, with Reuters confirming Nvidia now holds a minority stake. The announcement follows Nvidia's move earlier in the week to invest $1.5 billion in SB Energy, an OpenAI-linked data centre project in Ohio, reflecting a broader pattern of the chipmaker channelling its profits into AI infrastructure expansion.
