Nvidia plans modular AI data centre units from 2027

The Register ·

Nvidia plans to offer modular data centre units from 2027, aiming to shorten the time needed to deploy computing capacity for the AI boom. Called DSX pods, the factory-assembled units are designed to arrive ready for connection at a prepared site, with components checked before shipping.

Each 28-tonne pod contains seven Vera Rubin NVL72 racks, with 504 GPUs and 252 Vera CPUs. Nvidia says this approach could reduce deployment time from six months to as little as two weeks; partners including HPE, Dell and Schneider Electric will build the units, which customers can customise and add to as needed. The company also outlined designs for waterless data centres using closed-loop coolants and dry coolers.
