The National Women's Soccer League has announced its 2027 schedule, which will feature the earliest start in league history and a seven-week mid-season break to accommodate the Women's World Cup in Brazil. Commissioner Jessica Berman said the timing decisions, including opening the season in Los Angeles just before the Super Bowl, are part of a deliberate strategy to embed the NWSL more firmly within the broader American sports calendar and capitalise on media partnerships with broadcasters such as ESPN.

The regular season kicks off on 11 February 2027 with a match hosted by Angel City, three days before Super Bowl LXI in the same city, while the Challenge Cup opens on 6 February. Each of the league's 16 teams will play a 30-game schedule, pausing entirely from 24 June to 25 July for the World Cup, before Decision Day on 31 October, playoffs in early November, and the championship on 20 November. The plans come after the league postponed a proposed switch to a fall-to-spring calendar, following opposition from players over weather and facility concerns, meaning the NWSL will now overlap with Major League Soccer's new sprint season and shared venue scheduling challenges.
