WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) has described the upcoming clash between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in August as a "generational matchup" with the potential to be WWE's match of the year. Speaking to Fox News Digital, JBL likened the rising Femi to a young Lesnar, praising his charisma, intelligence and star quality, and argued that Femi is capable of rivalling the character that made Lesnar one of the biggest draws in both professional wrestling and the UFC.

The two men will meet inside a Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam, continuing a feud in which Femi beat Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, prompting "The Beast Incarnate" to briefly retire before returning weeks later to defeat Femi at Clash in Italy. JBL highlighted Femi's growing popularity, recalling how an entire sports bar in Las Vegas performed Femi's signature dance when he made his entrance, and predicted the move could spread to NFL stadiums via players such as Saquon Barkley or Derrick Henry. He called Femi "lightning in a bottle" and drew a direct parallel to Lesnar's own arrival in the industry.
