Ocasio-Cortez leading potential 2028 Democratic presidential nominees in New Hampshire survey
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez narrowly leads a hypothetical field of Democratic candidates for the 2028 presidential nomination in New Hampshire, according to a University of New Hampshire survey. The result offers an early indication of support in a traditionally influential primary state, though no candidate has declared and the election remains distant.
Ocasio-Cortez received 22 per cent support among likely Democratic primary voters, one point ahead of former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on 21 per cent. Senator Mark Kelly followed on 9 per cent, Governor Gavin Newsom on 8 per cent, Senator Bernie Sanders on 6 per cent and former Vice-President Kamala Harris on 5 per cent; the survey of 648 likely Democratic primary voters was conducted from 15 to 20 July, with a margin of error of 3.8 points. Ocasio-Cortez’s support was strongest among self-described socialists and progressives, while Buttigieg’s backing was more evenly spread across ideological groups.
