Nintendo Life · 1 month ago

Square Enix has confirmed that Octopath Traveler 0 will receive a content update later this year as part of the series' eighth-anniversary celebrations, though full details have yet to be revealed. The announcement came via the official anniversary broadcast, offering a first glimpse of two additions: a tougher new enemy for the Monster Arena and a new character joining the game's central town. It follows a busy week for the franchise, which also saw Switch 2 versions of Octopath Traveler 1 & 2 announced.

According to details highlighted by Gematsu, the Monster Arena update will bring back a formidable foe, seemingly hinted via a silhouette resembling Amatsukami no Orochi, offering an enhanced capture battle followed by a tougher arena fight for players who have overlevelled. Separately, the town of Wishvale will welcome a new "adventurer" resident, teased as Elliot from The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. Octopath Traveler 0 launched on Switch and Switch 2 last December, earning a nine-out-of-ten review from Nintendo Life, while the newly announced Switch 2 ports of the original two games are due on 1st October 2026.
