Officers recover £80MILLION cocaine stash after lorry driver makes tip off at burger van
Police recovered cocaine worth more than £80 million after a lorry driver spotted men taking wrapped packages from his container at a Northampton burger van in November 2021. The theft led to a nationwide investigation that traced the group and helped prevent the drugs from being distributed across the UK.
The lorry had travelled from Mexico carrying steel furniture parts, and the gang followed it for 125 miles from Felixstowe to Northampton. Police found 11 holdalls in a grey van and another seven inside the lorry. Craig Le-Mare, Kelly Robertson and Michael Weston were sentenced for conspiracy to supply cocaine, receiving prison terms of 20 years, 15 years, and 12 years and nine months respectively.
