Oh hell yes: Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 are getting full-fat gamepad support and you can try it right now
Developing story first seen 2 hours ago
Obsidian has opened public tests of full controller support for the PC versions of Pillars of Eternity and Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. The change lets players use a gamepad throughout both games, including on the Steam Deck, and gives PC players an option beyond community-made Steam Input layouts.
The tests run until 25 November and are available through each game’s Steam properties by selecting its November 4 beta. Obsidian warns that bugs remain and will use feedback to refine the feature before a full release. Alongside the tests, patches for both games address minor issues in the first game and update Deadfire’s turn-based mode, including how far characters can move according to their initiative.
