Ole Miss defense takes charge, shuts down Missouri’s high-powered rushing attack in 31-3 win

Fox News ·

Ole Miss beat 13th-ranked Missouri 31-3, with its defence shutting down a Tigers team known for its strong rushing attack. The result eased questions about the Rebels’ defence after they conceded 52 points to Florida three weeks earlier, while dealing a blow to Missouri’s hopes of reaching the College Football Playoff.

Missouri managed just 39 rushing yards, and quarterback Austin Simmons passed for 340 yards on nearly 50 attempts under sustained pressure. Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, while the Rebels gained 257 yards on the ground. Ole Miss next faces Texas before a demanding November run that includes Georgia, Oklahoma and Mississippi State; Missouri travels to play Arkansas.
