Oliver Glasner has explained that talks with Nottingham Forest's owner, Evangelos Marinakis, held over a seafood platter in Athens, persuaded him to become the club's fifth head coach in under a year. The Austrian, who left Crystal Palace after a successful two-year spell that included FA Cup and Conference League triumphs, has signed a three-year contract, replacing Vítor Pereira after Forest's hierarchy moved quickly to secure him once he became available.

Glasner said he was struck by Marinakis' ambition, joking he had "found one of the few people who is more ambitious than I am," while stressing that silverware talk was premature so early in his tenure. He met his new squad on his first day and said he hopes to bring back the "sweet honey" of European football after Forest reached the Europa League semi-finals last season. The club are also pursuing Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall as a potential record signing to replace Elliot Anderson, sold to Manchester City, with midfielder Xaver Schlager also expected to join on a free transfer from RB Leipzig.
