Olivia Rodrigo has surprise-released ‘Serena Joy’ as a limited-edition CD single through an independent record shop in Tustin, California, ahead of her Daisy Chain Fields festival. The move highlights her support for independent retailers and the festival’s focus on women in music and fundraising for women and girls.

Analog Music Shop received 500 copies, all of which sold out, and is close to the festival site at Irvine’s Great Park. The Handmaid’s Tale-inspired song was recorded for Rodrigo’s third album but omitted because it did not fit its relationship-centred narrative; it was expected to receive a wider release on 24 August, before Rodrigo headlines the all-women festival on 29 August.
