On 26 August 2009, Reba McEntire’s album Keep On Loving You topped both the Billboard 200 and the country albums chart, making country music history. The achievement gave her more chart-topping albums than any other female country artist, surpassing a record previously held by Loretta Lynn, and underscored McEntire’s longevity after overcoming early barriers for women in Nashville.

The album sold 96,000 copies in its first week and replaced George Strait’s Twang at number one on the Billboard 200, McEntire’s second appearance at the summit after 2007’s Reba: Duets. It was her first release for Valory Music after leaving MCA Nashville in 2008; its singles included “Strange”, which peaked at number 11, “Consider Me Gone”, which spent four weeks at number one, and the title track, which reached number seven.
