Actor Logan Marshall-Green revealed he initially turned down a callback audition for Christopher Nolan's big-screen adaptation of *The Odyssey*, yet still ended up landing a role in the star-studded epic. Speaking to Collider ahead of the film's release, Marshall-Green explained the decision reflected a personal philosophy of trusting his instincts, even at the risk of missing out on high-profile opportunities such as working with Nolan, one of Hollywood's most celebrated directors.

Marshall-Green, who plays Melanthius in the film, submitted a self-tape audition over Christmas 2024 but declined Nolan's subsequent in-person callback for reasons tied to earlier career choices, having previously been warned by an executive that turning down roles would harm his prospects. Despite this, he was eventually cast in the ensemble, which also features Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway as King Odysseus and Queen Penelope, and Tom Holland as their son Telemachus, alongside stars including Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron. Shot entirely on location in IMAX 70mm, including scenes filmed in Favignana, southern Italy, the film marks Nolan's ambitious take on Homer's ancient epic.
