A new horror film titled "What Happened to Doris?" will make its world premiere at Fantastic Fest this month, starring Heather Graham as Doris Bither, the single mother at the centre of the infamous 1974 "Entity haunting" case. The real-life story, in which Bither claimed to have been physically and sexually assaulted by an unseen entity in her Culver City home, previously inspired the 1982 film "The Entity" starring Barbara Hershey, and the new project aims to more faithfully depict the original victims and the researchers who investigated the case.

Directed by Nick Simon from a screenplay by Thomas Fenton, the film revisits the case that drew UCLA parapsychology investigators to Bither's home over a ten-week period, during which they documented reported poltergeist activity and unexplained lights, though the claims have never been conclusively proven or disproven. Graham is joined by Mimi Rogers, in what marks a Lost in Space reunion for the pair, alongside Morgan Peter Brown, Kevin Keppy and Luke Baines. Graham's involvement comes shortly before she also appears in Mike Flanagan's Prime Video adaptation of Carrie, out on 7 October.
