Orville Peck has released ‘Already Gone’, a new single from his forthcoming album Mule, which explores his experience of addiction, rehabilitation and recovery. The accompanying video presents his early time in treatment as an imagined musical, contrasting that upbeat fantasy with the crisis he says he was facing.

Mule is due on 18 September through Warner Records and follows a chronological account of what Peck calls the worst year of his life, including a break-up, addiction, rehab and sobriety. ‘Already Gone’, produced by Jay Joyce and co-written with Jacob Portrait, features Peck’s band alongside Molly Tuttle, Ketch Secor and Ry Jennings; Peck’s North American tour begins on 12 September, with $1 from each ticket donated to LGBTQ+ charity the Trevor Project.
