Legendary hip-hop duo Outkast has filed a 31-page lawsuit against California rapper and producer Ovrkast (real name Silas Wilson), accusing him of trademark infringement, unfair competition, and breach of contract over his "nearly identical" stage name. Outkast claims Wilson knowingly chose the name to capitalise on their fame and goodwill, and alleges he previously agreed to change it to Overkxst but failed to do so.

In response, Ovrkast has denied the accusations, stating he built his professional name independently and never intended to copy or confuse fans. The dispute centres on whether the phonetic similarity has caused genuine consumer confusion; Outkast points to a 2025 Rolling Stone interview as evidence, whilst Wilson maintains the resemblance is coincidental and claims he never signed any binding agreement to change his stage name.
