Great Britain's canoe slalom team made a strong start to Olympic qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Games, finishing third in the medal table at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Oklahoma City, held at the venue that will host the LA28 event. Paddle UK performance director Tom Duggan praised the team's efforts, calling it a positive beginning to the Olympic Qualification System and highlighting the value of gaining experience at the future Olympic venue, including coping with challenging temperatures.

GB won six medals in total, finishing behind the Czech Republic and Australia. Highlights included Joe Clarke's gold in the men's kayak cross, the men's team title in canoe, Adam Burgess's silver in the men's canoe final, and bronze medals for Kimberley Woods, Lois Leaver and her brother Sam Leaver, whose kayak cross bronze was his first senior medal. Duggan noted this was only the first of nine qualification races, but stressed the importance of building confidence and momentum ahead of 2028.
