The Paley Center for Media has launched a new PaleyFest Award, to be presented annually as part of its PaleyFest NY festival, marking the honour's debut alongside the Center's 50th anniversary. The award recognises that selection for PaleyFest itself represents a mark of distinction, and winners' work will become a permanent part of the Paley Archive, cementing the festival's role as a celebration of television and entertainment.

The first recipients include Billy Crystal and the series "American Horror Story," "Dexter," "Tulsa King," "Marshals," "The Diplomat" and "The Gilded Age," each tied to a current milestone such as a season premiere, anniversary or Emmy nomination. PaleyFest NY runs from 8 to 14 October at the Paley Museum in New York, with presale tickets available from 10am ET for Paley Members and Citi cardmembers; Paley Center president/CEO Maureen J. Reidy said the award formally honours "the extraordinary talent and storytelling across media, television, and entertainment."
