Palworld 1.0 patch notes exceed 10,000 words, nearly hitting Steam’s limit
Developed over time first seen 2 months ago
Pocketpair has released the 1.0 version of its monster-catching survival game Palworld, accompanied by an unusually large set of patch notes running to more than 10,000 words. The volume of changes was so great that the notes nearly exceeded Steam's character limit for a single update post, though the developer said it managed to resolve the issue without cutting any content.
According to the report, the studio was able to fit the full notes onto the platform "without making any compromise," meaning players still received the complete rundown of changes brought by the 1.0 launch. The sheer length of the document reflects the scale of the update, which marks Palworld's transition out of early access following its breakout success after launch.
- Palworld 1.0's patch notes exceed 10,000 words.
- The notes almost breached Steam's post character limit.
- Pocketpair fitted them in without cutting any content.

Pocketpair's Palworld is a survival game that lets players explore an open world, battle and capture creatures called Pals, and use them to help build bases, gather resources and fight. Since launching into early access in January 2024, it became a huge and somewhat surprising hit, selling tens of millions of copies partly because of its resemblance to Nintendo's Pokémon games, which has previously drawn legal scrutiny.
The game has now moved from early access into a full "1.0" release, the version developers typically use to signal that a game is complete and no longer experimental. Early access is a common model on Steam, the PC gaming platform where Palworld is sold, in which a game is made available to buy and play while still being actively developed, with major changes rolled out over time before this kind of final release.
