Paralyzed mother’s face is picture of anguish as she prepares to stand trial for killing three young children in America’s saddest murder trial

Daily Mail · 7 hours ago

Jury selection has begun in Massachusetts in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, a former nurse accused of strangling her three young children in January 2023. Clancy, 35, has pleaded not guilty, with her defence expected to argue she was not responsible due to postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors intend to argue the killings were deliberate and premeditated rather than the result of a loss of control.

Clancy is accused of killing Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan after sending her husband, Patrick, out to collect food and visit a pharmacy. She strangled the children with exercise bands before attempting to take her own life, leaving her paralysed after a fall from a second-storey window; she is currently held at a state hospital. She appeared in court in a wheelchair, visibly distressed, as her parents watched from the public gallery, while the judge sided with prosecutors in excluding four defence witnesses added shortly before trial.

  • Lindsay Clancy's trial for killing her three children has begun.
  • She claims postpartum psychosis; prosecutors say the killings were planned.
