CD Projekt Red has confirmed its enthusiasm for Paramount Pictures' plans to develop a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film, with joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski stating the studio shares creative ambitions with the entertainment giant. The announcement marks another major expansion of the Cyberpunk franchise beyond its video game roots, following the success of a Netflix anime series.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, best known for producing the Transformers films, is attached to the project, though no release date has been announced. Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 40 million copies since its troubled 2020 launch, which led to a significant recovery in 2021. The game's Netflix anime series is releasing its second season later this month, whilst CD Projekt Red simultaneously develops Cyberpunk 2 with a team of 184 people.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a video game developed by CD Projekt Red, a Polish studio known for The Witcher. The game is set in a futuristic dystopian world and has become one of the most successful games ever released, with over 40 million copies sold worldwide.
The game's popularity has extended beyond gaming into other entertainment formats. Netflix released an anime series based on the Cyberpunk universe that became a critical and commercial hit, with a second season arriving later this month, whilst a sequel game, Cyberpunk 2, continues in development with a large team.
Video game adaptations have become increasingly common in Hollywood and, when successful, can reach audiences far beyond gaming communities. Paramount's investment in a live-action film represents a continuation of major studios adapting popular gaming properties, with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura known for his work on the Transformers franchise.
