Paramount+ has seen a surprise resurgence for RoboCop, the 2014 sci-fi reboot starring Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman, which has climbed into the streamer's top ten most-watched films worldwide despite a lacklustre theatrical run when it was released. The revival highlights how older titles can find renewed popularity years later through streaming platforms, and comes as Oldman's profile has grown further thanks to his acclaimed role in Apple TV's Slow Horses.

Directed by José Padilha, RoboCop reimagines Paul Verhoeven's 1987 original, with Kinnaman playing critically injured police officer Alex Murphy, who is transformed into a cyborg, and Oldman portraying Dr Dennett Norton, the scientist behind the procedure. The film is now competing for viewers alongside newer, high-profile releases such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, twelve years after its original cinema release.
