Paramount Primal Snaps Up High-Concept Thriller Spec ‘Sweet Spot’ From Nic Curcio & Kirby Gladstein

Paramount Primal has pre-emptively acquired Sweet Spot, a high-concept thriller screenplay by Nic Curcio and Kirby Gladstein. The deal gives the studio an early claim on a project by an emerging writing partnership, although its story and potential cast or producers have not yet been disclosed.

Curcio and Gladstein began writing together in 2023 and previously won Fantastic Fest’s inaugural Fantastic Pitches competition for their indie horror film Play House, which is due to premiere at the festival in September. Curcio also wrote on Sony Pictures Animation’s GOAT, which reportedly earned more than $195 million worldwide, while the pair are represented by 3 Arts, UTA and Jackoway Tyerman.
