Paramount’s 4-Part Action Fantasy Epic Has One of the Best Seasons in TV History

Season 3 of *The Legend of Korra*, “Book 3: Change”, is presented as one of television’s strongest seasons because it makes Korra confront the consequences of her choices. After leaving the spirit portals open, she sees spirits appear in the human world and new airbenders emerge, while the decision also creates an opening for the Red Lotus, an anarchist group seeking to end the Avatar cycle.

Korra and her friends travel to recruit airbenders as Zaheer and his allies escape prison and pursue their aims. The article praises the season’s animation and distinctive fights, as well as the Red Lotus’s threat and Zaheer’s challenge to Korra’s views on corrupt leadership. It argues that the conflict gives the season both spectacle and a more mature examination of responsibility and power.
