Southbank Centre celebrated Steve Reich's approaching 90th birthday (3 October) and the 50th anniversary of his seminal work *Music for 18 Musicians* with a festival showcasing the supremely influential composer's enduring impact on classical music. The composer has shaped the musical landscape over decades with his instantly recognisable soundworld.

Paraorchestra delivered an immersive performance of *Music for 18 Musicians* in the Clore Ballroom, where audiences mingled freely with musicians positioned around the space, accompanied by dancers and disco lights that delighted both children and grandparents. The London Sinfonietta and guitarist Jonny Greenwood subsequently performed other Reich compositions in Festival Hall, including *Pulse*, *Radio Rewrite* (a commission featuring Radiohead material), *Electric Counterpoint*, and *City Life*, which incorporated sampled urban sounds from New York.
