Her parents have appealed to British police to investigate, citing concerns about the French police inquiry, which they describe as "lacklustre" and riddled with unanswered questions. The Met Police has reviewed their complaint and promised a senior detective would assess next steps, though no substantive progress has yet materialised.

According to the family's French lawyers, significant investigative failings occurred: no emergency call was made for 14 minutes, multiple witnesses were not interviewed by local police, and critical forensic evidence—including DNA samples and the student's swimming costume—was destroyed. A French post-mortem confirmed drowning but failed to determine the exact cause of death, whilst a medical examiner could not rule out traumatic injury. The investigation was closed after only brief interviews with some of those present and the post-mortem. The family's MP Daniel Francis has written to Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, sharing the family's concerns about missing evidence, timeline discrepancies, and the adequacy of the investigation.
