Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren, famous for playing Ivan Drago in "Rocky IV," has opened up in his new memoir about his battle with cancer and his darkest moments during treatment. At 68, Lundgren has revealed that he contemplated ending his life during his illness, planning his own funeral and discussing assisted suicide with his brother, before ultimately choosing to continue fighting.

Lundgren was initially diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2015 and underwent surgery. After five years of remission, cancer returned in 2020, spreading to his liver, lungs, spine and both kidneys. During aggressive treatment, he considered assisted dying—a legally permitted option in countries such as Switzerland—but reconsidered after meeting his doctor and experiencing improvement in his condition. He now emphasises his "fighter's heart" and discipline as reasons he chose to persevere rather than surrender to his illness.
